Solar Farm Setting Out & Pile Position Surveys, Nationwide
South East Site Engineers set out ground-mount solar arrays for EPC contractors, piling contractors and developers across the UK. We mark pile positions, track and fence lines, cable routes and equipment pads straight from your design coordinates. With up to 1,000 piles set out a day, your piling rigs get clear marks and never stand waiting for an engineer.Request a solar setting out quoteCall 020 7278 0778

Setting out engineers on call for solar PV contractors
Solar programmes depend on piling. One late or wrongly set out row can hold up the whole mounting structure installation. We fit into your programme as an extra setting out team, for a single day or for the full piling phase.
EPC contractorsSetting out capacity that grows with your piling programme, with no full-time engineer on your payroll.
Piling contractorsPile positions marked ahead of your rigs, plus as-built checks to prove your piles are within tolerance.
Mounting structure installersRow lines, pile centres and level checks so the racking goes up square and true.
Developers & IPPsPre-construction topographic surveys and independent as-built records for handover and asset owners. What we set out and survey
Solar farm surveying services from greenfield to handover
Pile position setting out
Every pile marked from your pile schedule or CAD layout, using GNSS and robotic total stations tied into OS National Grid (OSGB36) and your site control.
Site control & datum levels
We install and check primary control, run closed-loop traverses and transfer datum levels, so every team on site works from the same reliable grid.
As-built pile surveys
We record installed pile positions and levels and compare them with design. You get clear deviation reports for QA sign-off and handover.
Tracks, fences & cable routes
Access tracks, perimeter security fencing, CCTV columns, trench and cable routes, and inverter, transformer and substation pads.
Pre-construction topo surveys
Topographic and drone and point cloud surveys of large fields, plus cut and fill calculations for groundworks.
Buried services & cable routes
GPR utility surveys to find existing services before you trench grid connections or pile near field boundaries.

Built for large sites
Accurate pile setting out at solar farm scale
A solar farm has thousands of near-identical positions spread over open, often uneven ground. Our engineers prepare your coordinates in the office before they arrive. On site they set out row by row with GNSS rovers and robotic total stations, and colour-code the markers so your piling crew can tell rows, ends and special piles apart. On open, prepared ground we can set out up to 1,000 piles a day.
We work to the tolerances in your specification. We check control at the start and end of each shift, so errors don’t spread across the array.Discuss your solar project

Walk the array: solar farm pile positions ready for piling
This video walks along a finished set-out on one of our solar farm sites. Every flag is a surveyed pile position, laid out in straight, consistent rows and ready for the piling rigs.
Each set-out comes with the records your QA team needs: what was set out, when, by whom, and against which drawing revision. How it works
From pile schedule to piling-ready site
- Send your dataShare your layout DWG/DXF or pile schedule (CSV), the site control and the programme dates.
- Office preparationWe check the coordinates, flag any clashes or design gaps, and plan the set-out sequence around your piling.
- Set out on siteEngineers set up and check control, then mark piles and features ahead of your rigs, on a day rate or fixed price.
- As-built & reportingInstalled piles surveyed, with as-built data and deviation reports issued in CSV, DWG or PDF.
