Setting Out

Setting Out 2

As the first step of a project’s construction phase, setting out involves physically marking out everything from temporary accommodation and site gridlines to sub-structural elements such as drainage runs, pile positions and ground beams. Our site engineers often later set out super-structural and feature elements such as RC slabs, columns positions, brickwork returns, K10 studwork, reflected ceiling sprinkler, soffit pipework and lighting systems as well as cladding line offsets and landscaping.

Be it residential housing, office blocks, extensions or structural alterations; mapping out what is required will help avoid expensive errors. At South East Site Engineers we execute as much of the pre-setting out calculation work and point storage as possible at our central London office before we attend site. This results in our engineering teams often spending a fraction of the time normally required to set out on site.
